OGCIO to speak about IT Innovation Lab at ABC5-Lab Seminar

Brian Sun from OGCIO is invited to HKBCS to speak about the IT Innovation Lab funding on Dec 4. The OGCIO implements the “IT Innovation Lab in Secondary Schools” (IT Innovation Lab) initiative under the existing “Enriched IT Programme in Secondary Schools” (EITP) to provide funding support of up to $1 million in the three school years from 2020/21 to 2022/23 for each publicly funded secondary school to upgrade their IT equipment and facilities and organise IT-related activities. The recorded webinar will be uploaded on Dec 5.

Hong Kong Blockchain Olympiad Officially Begins 2021 Season

Yesterday, HSBC kicked off the 2021 Hong Kong Blockchain Olympiad at CityU and online yesterday. The competition, in its 4th year, is estimated to receive more than 60 student proposals, with a selected team to be mentored by expert blockchain advisors and academics throughout the competition.

The winning teams will be invited to join the International Blockchain Olympiad 2020, competing with students from global chapters. This is the first year to have a secondary school division for students in Hong Kong secondary students of all ages. The 2021 Hong Kong Blockchain Olympiad is funded by HSBC for the second time in a row and supported by the College of Business at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU), Hong Kong Blockchain Society (HKBCS), and Office of the Government Chief Information Officer of the Hong Kong SAR Government (OGCIO).

The Five levels of ABCD (ABC5-Lab)

We are happy to announce that we presented our IT-programme, The Five Levels of ABCD (ABC5-Lab), on The Future Tech Talent Theme Day on 16 July. ABC5-Lab is a mixed-mode and pandemic-proof education programme from the Hong Kong Blockchain Society that prepares local secondary school students for enriched IT learning experience and competitions in AI, blockchain, and computing — supported by the OGCIO. ABC5-Lab is fully-subsidized by the IT Innovation Lab programme.

The Future Tech Talent Theme Day

We are pleased to update you that HKTDC has announced the Education and Careers Expo 2020 (originally scheduled for 6-9 February) will be rescheduled to 16-19 July. The Future Tech Talent Theme Day will now be rescheduled to 16 July.

The Future Tech Talent Theme Day is co-organised by the HKTDC and OGCIO, where OGCIO aims to enhance secondary students’ interest in IT learning and IT careers and raise the public's awareness of digital transformation taking place in all walks of life.

The Future Tech Talent Theme Day - Postponed

Unfortunately, in line with the measures against the spread of novel coronavirus infection in Hong Kong and in enhancing the safety of exhibitors and visitors, the HKTDC has announced the Education and Careers Expo 2020 (originally scheduled for 6-9 February) will be rescheduled. The Future Tech Talent Theme Day (originally scheduled for 6 February) co-organised by the HKTDC and OGCIO will also be postponed until further notice.

The Future Tech Talent Theme Day - Postponed

In light of unstable factors that may possibly happen, we have decided that the sharing session on 2 January 2020 will be postponed until further notice. Our deep apology for the inconvenience.

Instead, HKTDC and the OGCIO will co-organise a Future Tech Talent Theme Day (tentative name) on 6 February 2020, which will be the launch day of the HKTDC 30th Education and Careers Expo 2020 held in HKCEC during 6 - 9 February 2020. OGCIO aims to enhance secondary students’ interest in IT learning and IT careers and raise the public's awareness of digital transformation taking place in all walks of life.

The Future Tech Talent Theme Day

15 Nov - 2019 - HKBCS is pleased to announce that HKTDC and the OGCIO will co-organise a Future Tech Talent Theme Day (tentative name) on 2 January 2020, which will be the launch day of the HKTDC 30th Education and Careers Expo.

OGCIO aims to enhance secondary students’ interest in IT learning and IT careers and raise public’s awareness of digital transformation taking place in all walks of life.

The Expo is one of the largest education and career fairs in Hong Kong for students to obtain the latest information about academic courses and the working market. It was attended by more than 100 000 visitors, including around 100 group visits from schools in 2019. The target audience is youth, post-graduates, graduates, associate degree graduates, secondary students, school representatives and the general public. It will be the 30th Edition of the Expo in 2020 and aims to provide a wealth of information on education and job opportunities for students and visitors at different stages of life and career paths to better equip themselves.
